Steps in Grasshopper

Components (functional blocks) are added to the canvas and connected with wires. The definition is then saved. The definition is controlled by “slider objects.”  All connections are live.

Some key points that I learned are:

Parameter – Stores data (#s, color, geometry, etc). Parameters can store two different types of data:

Volatile Data – Inherited from a source and is destroyed/recollected                                         whenever a new solution is inherited.

Persistent Data – Specifically set by user.

Input Parameters – Allows you to interact with a parameter / definition. Three examples include:

Number Sliders

Graph Mappers

Value List

Component – Performs actions that result in data
