Week 02 [Reading]:
Grasshopper Primer 1.5 & 1.6
Out of Control: ‘In the Library of Form’
Out of Control: In the Library of Form
The chapter ‘In the Library of Form’ out of context was initially confusing but pushing past the narrative tone, it clarified the idea of trees, branches & lists in Grasshopper by comparing the logically concept to the Library (the universe). “Every coordinate has a book; every book a coordinate… in the Library one coordinate begets many subsequent related coordinates.”
Because the author kept referencing ‘The Library,’ I just imagined this system applying only to books. But it was interesting to read about how Karl Sims then created a Borgian Library of art & pictures and how it could be applied to any category.
